Te Mata Mushrooms (TMM), was established in 1967 and is the second largest mushroom operation in New Zealand producing more than 20 Tonnes of mushrooms per week (approximately 10% of New Zealand's total consumption). The CEO, Michael Whittaker is a celebrated entrepreneur who purchased the business in 2012.

Over the years TMM has continued to grow and now employs 120 staff at the Brookvale site in Havelock North, one of the largest non seasonal horticultural employer’s in Hawke's Bay. True North’s investment will ensure this business will continue to modernise and accelerate its growth. Under a new consent issued Dec 2019, TMM will build a fully enclosed composting facility. The expansion of the growing facilities will incorporate the latest growing and harvesting technology which will improve returns for shareholders.
